Oh what a day today was. We did get four singles and a double on the water, after waiting for almost two weeks for the smoke to clear. And clear it did. And a more than an average day we had, launching the Priest River Armada. All shells went up and down the Priest River for a "Private River" row. Once past the railroad bridge the OWD had to go back to the beach to fix the self bailing flap and then we went out to the Pend Oreille river....

There was a lot of On Water time this month having registratitions almost every day The clean and disinfect protocol has been followed very dilligently whic is good to see. There was a total of 106 registrations in August. The favourite shell was the MAAS with 30 registrations, then the Star with 25, Warren 23, Ocean 11, Patricia and OW double 8 each and one registration for the Neher Firefly which was cancelled. With all this activity, technique has improved a lot. Wednesday evening has become Ladies' Time On Water....

A local resident offered two Alden shells on loan to PORPA. These two singles are in excellent conditions and are available to be taken out from the Mudhole starting August 9th, 2020. We now have a total of six singles and two doubles available for sessions. Great Puddles!

During our annual membership assembly last month, the PORPA Warren Foersch Award was introduced. This award was created to recognize the member(s) that showed exceptional performance or improvement during a calendar year. All this in the spirit of prevailing against all odds with never ending optimism and commitment as demonstrated by Warren. For 2019 the selected member for this award was Sheila Thomas for the enthusiasm shown. She not only improved her rowing skills but formed a novice masters women four, co-chaired our regatta and worked hard to keep the...
