This award is a symbol of Warrens’s spirit to prevail against odd and his endless optimism and commitment. Snow and cold tempertures gave way to a cold and sunny day for PORPA volunteers Val, Mary, Curt, Jim and Gayne to join about a dozen Couer dAlene rowing club volunteers to de-rig about 20 rowing shells, carry them to the trailers, tie them down, move them to the Kootenai County Fairgrounds and unload them. Years of working cooperativley with the US Army Corps of Engineers has paid off! On Saturday 23 July 2022, PORPA and Corps staff cut a red ribbon to officially open the new sandy beach non-motorized watercraft launch area at the Priest River Recreation Area (aka Mudhole). Nine POPRA members enyoyed a training row on the calm waters of the Pend Oreille this first Saturday of a spectacular Inland NW September. From bow: Gayne, Stan, Doug (1st time sweep), Okju, Erwin, Curt, Peggy, Val and cox Jace, rowed as fours, sixes and 2K all eight. We even rowed thoruhg some pretty rolling wakes.
