PORPA celebrated 10 years since putting our first boat on the water at Riley Creek on the Pend Oreille River today 13 July! 12 rowers, 3 boats, 1 paddler, watermelon, unveiling of new Salish language names for our HW double and quad, new and original rowers, great coxing in and out of the "boat basin", and two sweep virgins no longer! Amazing camaraderie, curious looks from the campground hosts and campers, setting up a second rack, and sharing a lovely picnic lunch in the copious shade. Thanks for ten wonderful...

PORPA Sprints on the Priest River is cancelled for 2024. We are sad to announce that because of unforeseen delays in the construction activities at the Priest River Recreation Area (Mudhole) this summer, PORPA needs to cancel our 3 August 2024 event. PORPA considered other venues, but decided that there is no place as safe to hold water race events for kids than the Priest River. Without the ability to provide an extremely safe event for the little ones, we decided to cancel this year's non-motorized fun races. It is...

Since the Mudhole is still closed to the public, we have set up limited equipment at Riley Creek Park in Laclede. Available boats for general use are the Seashell double, the MAAS single and the Alden Ocean single. The boat rack is just behind the park's office at the entrance, just beyong the camp hosts sites on the left. Best is...

2023 ended with a BIG BANG. The year end social event was held on January 6th in Priest River. We had quite a turnout. The people were great, conversations lively, food (pot-luck) excelent, drinks aplenty and fun out of this world. The gathering started with a short presentation by the board to the assembled members to explain a rate increase in the annual fees and to get the go ahead vote to implement as per our articles of association. The presentation with minutes included was uploaded to www.porpa.org in the...

The Warren Foersch Award was introduced in 2019 to honor our now departed friend Warren Foersch in recognition of his spirit of prevailing against all odds with never ending optimism and commitment. The selection process takes into consideration what the member has done for the benefit of our organization, the improvement of the personal technique or performance and the added value to the sport of rowing. The process for the Warren Foersch Award for 2023 was a somewhat lengthy one since there are now more members in the selection committee...
